      Original 1874 booklet on the establishment of the United States Naval 
Academy on grounds of Fort Severn at Annapolis. Includes correspondence 
between Secretary of the Navy George Bancroft and the school's first 
superintendent, Franklin Buchanan. This little handbook also lays out the 
rules and regulations governing the school and the taking of examinations. 
There is a list of clothing items which candidates were required to have for 
admission to the school. The booklet is in pristine condition....... $175.00
