BARNUM, P. T. LIFE OF P. T. BARNUM WRITTEN BY HIMSELF, Brought Up to
1886. Buffalo: The Courier Company Printers, 1886. First Edition.
Original brick cloth;361 pages. Illustrated with engravings. One of
several editions of one of the most famous American autobiographies by
one of the world's most sensational entrepreneurs. This edition has a
new preface by Barnum. This copy is INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author
on the first blank "To F. J. Bonnelle Esq/with Compliments of/P. T.
Barnum/July 15th 1887." Offered a few years ago by another seller was a
letter from Barnum to Bonnelle returning proofs and asking Bonnelle to
contact the editor of THE HERALD about obtaining copies of his article.
The seller referred to Bonnelle as Barnum's biographer, but we know of
no published biography by him nor any other reference to such. Minor
fraying to spine tips. Near Fine. $1,000.00
