historiated capitals. Orig. limp vellum, soiled. Title page a bit

The first edition of the first printed collection of Germanic Laws
(Leges Barbarum). The compiler, Herold (1514-1567) made use of a
manuscript in the library of the Benedictine Abbey of Fulda which was
subsequently looted in the Thirty Years War and is now lost. Adams
