LEY,WILLY. ROCKETS, THE FUTURE OF TRAVEL BEYOND THE STRATOSPHERE. N.Y.: Viking, 1944. First printing of this seminal work. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by the author on the front free endpaper. Original blue-grey cloth lettered in red and black. 8.5 x 5.75". Spine just a little sunned, some trivial rubbing to extremities, but a very good plus copy. The author's presentation inscription reads: "To: Milton Rothman with my best wishes. Willy Ley." Milton A. Rothman (1919-2001), was a nuclear scientist and a science-fiction author (under the pseudonym, "Lee Gregor"). He was also a leading figure in science fiction fandom, co-founding the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society and organizing Philcon, the oldest annual science fiction convention, where the first Hugo Award was presented in 1953. An exceptional inscription. $700.00 ($600.00 to the trade) postpaid
