TITLE: “Chinese Bronzes from the Collection of Chester Dale and Dolly Carter”

By Eleanor van Erdberg.
Published in Ascona, Switzerland by Artibus Asiae Publishers in 1978.

DISCUSSION: As an oil company executive in Japan in the early 1950s,
Chester Dale Carter took advantage of the depressed Japanese market to buy
superb early Chinese bronzes which were not available to fellow western
collectors in New York or Europe. Most of the collection was later sold to
the Art Museum of Princeton University, which sponsored this scholarly,
well-illustrated catalog.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 9.5”x12.5”, 250 pages, black & white
illustrations, dust jacket.

CONDITION NOTES: Minor wear, jacket a bit worn and rubbed, "RCN" written
in pen on the endpaper, but otherwise clean and nice, with a tight
binding.

TITLE: “Chinese Pictorial Bronze Vessels of the Late Chou Period”

By Charles D. Weber.
Published in Ascona, Switzerland by Artibus Asiae Publishers in 1968.

DISCUSSION: “For the first time, the pictorial bronze vessels of the Late
Chou period have been brought together and presented as a unit within the
early history of Chinese art. Dr. Weber reviews some 100 vessels, which he
places into nine groups, according to the pictorial style, the techniques
used to produce the representations, and the subject matter. Beautifully
illustrated by some five hundred drawings, rubbings, and photographs”.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 9.5”x12.5”, 237 pages, plus 64 black & white
plates, dust jacket.

CONDITION NOTES: The dust jacket has some minor wear and a little soil,

DISCUSSION: A scholarly examination of a number of Han period bronze
mirrors and their decoration, using examples drawn from public and private
collections.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 9.5”x12.5”, 116 pages with black & white and line
illustrations, plus 81 black & white illustrations on 50 plates, dust
jacket.

CONDITION NOTES: The dust jacket has some soil and wear, the letters "RCN"
are written on the endpaper in ink, but otherwise clean and nice, with a
tight binding.
