Edited by Angelo Politiano, whose edition had first appeared in 1493.  In Greek and Latin, with separate foliation for each. Octavo, old  paneled calf with 2 sets of double rules and corner ornaments on both covers, raised bands with floral decorations on the spine, all in gilt, decorated edges. Light wear, but a very good, clean, complete copy.. [4], 92; 97 leaves, (Biiii, leaf 12, misnumbered 13.) Adams H377 cites copies:  University Library, Christ's & Trinity.  OCLC finds a total of 4 copies, in Germany, Denmark & Switzerland, but  NONE IN THE U.S.  The only copy on offer at this writing contains only half the book - the Latin version,  This Roman history covers a period of about 60 years, from the late Second (following the death of Marcus Aurelius) into the early Third Century. Herodian, a Syrian, was a minor official in Rome early in the Third Century, A.D., so his history has the merit of contemporaneousness.
