(1797-1873)"

By William Twopeny & Laurence Binyon.

DISCUSSION: William Twopeny [1797-1873], lawyer and antiquarian, spent
much of his life roaming the hills and dales of England, producing
remarkable sketches of architecture and architectural details which were
rapidly disappearing. These were largely unpublished, but rather were
gathered in many portfolios and given to the British Museum after his
death. Here are 93 drawings selected by Laurence Binyon showing metalwork
of various types- rainwater pipe-heads, fire dogs, latches and hinges,
door handles, keys and locks, vanes and railing details. Binyon also
contributes a short introduction on Twopeny and his work.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 9”x11.5”, 15 pages of text plus 93 black & white
illustrations. Light wear, but overall in very nice, clean condition.
