TITLE: “Taku Wakan. The Ernest Erickson Collection of North American
Indian Art in the National Museum of Finland”

By Pirjo Varjola & Simo Hankaniemi. Published in Helsinki by the National
Board of Antiquities in 1995.

DISCUSSION: Finnish expatriate Ernest Eerikson formed his collection in
the United States in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, under the guidance of the
great collection and scholar Dr. George Heye, and the material in his
collection is of outstanding quality. It was given to the National Museum
after World War 2, and supplemented with new acquisitions by Mr. Erickson
in succeeding years. The text of this catalog is in both Finnish and
English, though the bulk is in Finnish. The Preface and biographical essay
are in both languages, and each item is briefly described in English, with
longer descriptions, and the introductions to each section, in Finnish. An
uncommon catalog.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 8.5”x11.5”, 206 pages, color illustrations.

CONDITION NOTES: Minor wear, but otherwise clean and nice, with a tight
binding.

PRICE: $150.00
