Basel: Henricus Petrus. 1530. Folio. (16),198,(2)pp. With the final
blank and woodcut device on title. BOUND WITH: GESTA ROMANOR[UM]: cu[m]
Applicatio[n]ibus Moralizatis ac Mysticis. (Hagenau: Rynman and Gran.
1517). ff.(6),lxxxi,(1). Double column text. Title within a fine
woodcut border. Bound in cont. limp vellum in "wallet" style, the rear
cover extended 4" to flap over the front cover, where it was fastened.
The ties are no longer present. Vellum somewhat darkened from
soiling. $3,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
Two rare works in a very interesting original binding, a good example
of this wallet style, not often seen. Contemporary ink inscription of
one "Ottonis Weidmanni" on a preliminary blank.
I: a very rare edition of this text on ancient Rome. No copy is
recorded in America by OCLC. VD 16 R3618.
II: important medieval collection of Latin anecdotes and tales. A rare
edition, particularly in the trade, as no copy is recorded at auction
by ABPC. VD 16 G1901. An old oil stain at the top margin of the first
10 leaves. Some contemporary marginal annotations.
