THEOLOGICA. Nunc Primum Edita. Cura & Fide Guilielmi Rawley... London:
R. Danielis. 1658. 8vo. (36),216pp. Cont. paneled calf, rebacked. Title
page a bit soiled and with a small repaired tear at top inner margin,
but a very good copy.   $2,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
The first issue (with only the R. Danielis imprint). A posthumous
collection of unpublished writings by Bacon, including a biography of
Bacon by his editor William Rawley, treatises such as “Inquisitio De
Magnete” and “Articuli Inquisitionis de Metallis & Mineralibus,”etc.
Gibson (Supplement) 230b, notes that the second issue with the “for
Octavian Pulleyn” in the imprint, also is identified by a comma on line
8 of the title after the word “Verulamo,” Our copy of 230a (the first
issue), also contains this comma on the title, identifying a further
variant not mentioned by Gibson. Wing B314 (listing only the second
issue).
