Offered today is an important study of early editions of Ptolemy's Geography.  


STEVENS, Henry Newton (1850-1930).  Ptolemy's Geography: A Brief Account of All the Printed Editions Down to 1730....  London: Henry Stevens, Son and Stiles, 1908.  8vo.  9 x 6 1/4 inches.  viii, 62, [2] pp.  Printed throughout in black and red inks, decorative initials, headpieces and tailpieces, printed on laid paper; text clean, un-marked.  Wrappers, printed in red and black with decorations on the front cover, top edge gilt; binding square and tight, toning to extremities, light shelf wear.  With the printer's device of the Chiswick Press, Charles Whittingham and Co., Tokes Court, Chancer Lane, London on the colophon.  Also included is a copy of The Month at Goodspeed's, April 1949, Vol. XX, No. 7, in which there is fuller discussion of editions of Ptolomy.  Ownership signature of Francis P.
