Wherein Is Proved, That Episcopacy Is of Divine, and Apostolical Institution: And that it was the Government to the Christian Church during the Three First Stages if it; and was design to be Perpetual in it to the End of the World. With An Account of the Distinction of the Three Orders of Bishop, Presbyter, and Deacon. To Reconcile the Differenting Parties to that Form of Church Government." Twenty chapters consisting of: "Divine" and "Particular" proofs of the Episcopacy being an early part (First through Third Centuries) of the ecclesiastical "Hierarchy". Early Jewish-Christian leaders and martyrs such as St. James, St. Simeon, St. Titus, St. Jerome, and others are referenced, along with testimonies of the Apoplectic Fathers, New Testament Biblical works, etc. continuing through the third century. Included is "A Sermon of the authoritie of the Kayes,"( in a different font ) by Thomas Cranmer, 1489 -1556, The Archbishop of Canterbury (during the rule of Henry VIII).

The "Bangorian Controversy" the most bitterly fought theological dispute in the early 18th century originated in 1716 with Hickes's posthumous publication of "Constitution of the Christian Church, and the Nature and Consequence of Schism".
>> George Hickes, born at Newsham, near Thirsk, Yorkshire, England, 1642-1750, writer, scholar, he became Chaplain to King James II, in 1681, he refused to take the oath of allegiance during the Revolution of 1688, (Glorious Revolution). Hickes published two popular treatise on Christianity: Of the Christian Priesthood and the other Of the Dignity of the Episcopal Order, originally published in 1707, however his most noted works were: Institutiones Grammaticae Anglo-Saxonicae et Moeso-Gothicae (1689), and Linguarum veterum septentrionalium thesaurus grammatico-criticus et archæologicus (1703-1705).
