Hudson & Goodwin. 1799. First edition. 2 vols. xii,(9)-348;(4),352pp.
Vol. II with 8 pages of tables summarizing & tracking pestilential
diseases from 1600 to 1799. Cont. calf, a bit worn, expertly rebacked
in period style, with red & green morocco spine labels. Occasional
light foxing. Title page of Vol. II with an old perforated library
stamp (University of Chicago) at top of the page, and with the
deaccession stamp on the front pastedown. Both volumes with the
bookplate of Herbert McLean Evans, the American anatomist and major
collector of medical books. $1,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
Written by Noah Webster, the great American lexicographer. William
Osler called this book, "the most important medical work written in
