Spanish by Maurice Keatinge. London: Printed for J. Wright by John
Dean. 1800. First English translation. Lg. 4to. viii,514,(2)pp.
Illustrated with a copper engraved frontispiece map of the City & Lake
of Mexico. Cont. calf, a bit worn, nicely rebacked, gilt decorated
spine with red morocco label. A cont. leaf of manuscript description is
tipped in at front. Bookplates on both pastedowns.  $1,000.00 (trade
discount allowed)
Diaz (1492-1581?) was one of Cortes' officers, and his account of the
conquest of Mexico is considered the most trustworthy.
