London: William Heinemann, (1926).  8vo.  9 x 6 inches.  viii, 325, [1 blank] pp.  Text clean, un-marked.  full Blue cloth, spine stamped in gilt, beveled edges, top edge gilt, dust-jacket in archival jacket cover; bindings square and tight, jacket soiled with small chips at head and foot of jacket spine, some off-setting to the half-title.  Housed in a handsome quarter dark green morocco slip case with raised bands and gilt titling, cloth sides are giltp-ruled, with a five-sided chemise; some shelf wear to the out case, cloth toned.  Very Good plus.

LIMITED EDITION of 265 numbered copies, this is number 145, SIGNED by John Galsworthy on the limitation page opposite the title page.  First trade edition issued in 1924.  John Galsworthy was an English novelist and playwright.  His notable works include "The Forsyte Saga" (1906-1921) and its sequels, "A Modern Comedy" (1924-1929) and "End of the Chapter."  "The White Monkey" is the first of the "A Modern Comedy" series.  Galsworthy won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1932.  Reference: Marrot, A Bibliography of the Works of John Galsworthy, p. 43.
