The catalog to an auction held in Brussels by Jos. Fievez on May 20-25th,
1904.

DISCUSSION: The exceedingly handsome catalog to the auction sale of the
portion of the famous Somzee collection devoted to fine tapestries of the
15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, Greek antiquities, and Italian
maiolica. The tapestries, which comprise the last 200 lots, take up more
than half the catalog. In 1912 Hunter (Tapestries, Their Origin, History
and Renaissance) noted- “From the tapestry point of view, the Somzee sale
was the most important ever held. The descriptions in the catalogue are
excellent”.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 11"x14", 606 lots, 94 pages plus 51 black & white
plates. Bound in handsome quarter leather with raised bands and marbled
boards.

CONDITION NOTES: Covers with light wear and a little rubbing, contents
fine and clean.
