A comprehensive history of Kentucky from its conjectured prehistory 
through 1928. Illustrated. All Volumes: Individually Indexed, text block 
marbled on all edges, novelty endpapers and pastedowns, green cloth on 
boards.

Vol I "Before the Louisiana Purchase in 1803" by Temple Bodley, 562pp, 
bound-in map of Kentucky and its surrounding states. Second front free 
endpaper with inscription and signature of Gavin H. Cochran. Appendixes: 
"Historians and Kentucky History,"Six Nation Deed for Traders" (a land 
grand to Native American tribes), "Sir William Johnson's Report on Six 
Nation Deeds," "Early Kentucky Petition for Separation," "George Rogers 
Clark to Patrick Henry in 1777" (a personal letter). Bibliography.

Vol II "From 1803 to 1928" by Samuel M. Wilson, 720pp, approximately 62 
black and white photo plates.

Vol III: "Biographical" by unnamed authors, 1190pp, biographical essays 
of men and women considered influential in s Kentucky history, numerous 
black and white photo plates.

Vol IV: "Biographical" by unnamed authors, 1190pp, biographical essays 
of men and women considered influential in Kentucky history, numerous 
black and white photo plates.

All volumes have bumps and wear to spine ends, scattered scuffing and 
occasional tiny light marks to covers. Vol I: Second front free endpaper 
has a few small holes from erasures, two short closed tears to tail of 
leaf in Bibliography, tail corners lightly rubbed. Vol II: Lightest 
dampstain to head corner of leaves at corner and edges only, closed tear 
to head of leaf in Index. Vol III: Tail corners rubbed, head corners 
lightly rubbed. Vol IV: Both tail corners worn, one chewed?

Somewhat scarce as a complete set of four volumes. With the ownership 
blind stamp of Jack McKim Vorhies, noted numismatic author of books 
about obsolete bank notes. A nice set for the Kentucky historian or 
genealogist. Overall VG.
