TITLE: “Old-Time Ships of Salem”

By Robert S. Rantoul & William O. Chapman.
Published in Salem by the Essex Institute in 1922. 2nd edition.

DISCUSSION: Twenty period watercolors of late 18th and early 19th century
Salem-based merchant vessels are featured, along with their histories. 
Most of these paintings were executed by artists in Italy and France at
the request of the ships' captains or owners by such noted maritime
specialists as the Roux family, Corne, Carcini, Camellotte, Pelligrini,
and Ropes.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 8.5”x11”, 86 pages, 20 color plates, 23 black &
white illustrations.

CONDITION NOTES: Minor wear, covers with some light soil and a few light
spots, bookplate on the front pastedown, but otherwise clean and nice,
with a tight binding and no marks.
