History of the Potawatomi tribe in the Midwest: Indiana, Michigan, 
Illinois. Topics: Early history, Fort Dearborn, ceding of lands, 
Menominee and the Train of Death, Potawatomi trails, the Potawatomi on 
the Wabash river, noted chiefs, famous Indian traders, Isasc McCoy and 
other white figures, the Pokagons. Contains 33 black and white 
illustrations, photos, and maps. Brief Bibliography. Tiny foxing to the 
head of the text block. A concise history by an historian of Midwestern 
Native American tribes. No DJ, as-issued. Absolutely clean and unbumped 
with sharp corners. A Near Fine copy of this 1961[1939] reprint.

Details the life of Francis Slocum, a white woman taken from her home in 
Pennsylvania in 1778 and raised by the Miami in what would be the 
Indiana territory. One of the author's many books on the Miami in 
Indiana. Reprint 1966[1936]. Burgundy cloth on boards. Black and white 
photos and line drawings. Sturdy binding, orange cloth on boards. Spine 
rolled. Gutters foxed between pastedowns and endpapers. Quite clean 
inside. Essential reading for Miami history in Indiana and the Midwest, 
engagement with the US Army at Eel River, significant members of the 
Miami nation, etc. The front endpaper with the ownership blind stamp of 
Jack McKim Vorhies, noted numismatic author of books about obsolete bank 
notes.

pencil mark to cover. Quite clean inside. Essential reading for Miami 
history in Indiana and the Midwest, engagement with the US Army at Eel 
River, significant members of the Miami nation, etc. The front endpaper

Documents the life of Frances Slocum. Kidnapped by Miami Indians in 
1778, she lived among the Miamis until her death in 1847. Extensive 
history of related Native American families in Indiana. Combines The 
Frances Slocum Trail with A Brief Centennial History of Wabash County, 
1835-1935 (Wabash, Indiana) and The Silver Anniversary of Otho Winger, 
1877-1946 (biographic and college information). Author was President of 
Manchester College 1911-1941. Extensively illustrated with black and 
white photos and drawings. Variegated wine-colored cloth on boards. 
Approximately 180 pp. 1943[1933]. No DJ, believed as-issued. Head of 
text block has tiny foxed spots from dust. With the ownership blind 
stamp of Jack McKim Vorhies, noted numismatic author of books about 
obsolete bank notes. An exceptionally clean Near Fine copy.
