light soil.

 - -

Dibner, Bern. “Burndy Library in mitosis”. Burndy Library: 1977. A
short history and overview of the holdings of this noted science library,
an offprint from the London journal ‘The Book Collector’.
Softcover. 5.5”x8.5”, 32 pages, 17 black & white illustrations. Minor
wear, but overall clean and nice.

 - -

“The Dictionary of Paper. Including Pupls, Boards, Paper Properties and
Related Papermaking Terms”. New York, American Paper and Pulp
Association: 1940. From Abraca (see ‘Manila Hemp’) and Abrasive Paper to
Yoshino and Zinc White, if it has anything to do with paper, its
manufacture, composition or uses, it is here. Hardcover. 6”x9.5”, 365
pages. The covers are a bit faded, with a little wear (please see the
photo- frankly, they weren't that bright to begin with...), the book has
an ownership inscription on the front endpaper, but otherwise is clean and
nice, with a tight binding and no marks.

 - -

Exman, Eugene. "The House of Harper. One Hundred and Fifty Years of
Publishing". Harper & Row: 1967. The story of one of America's oldest,
most distinguished publishers. Hardcover. 6.5"x9.5", 326 pages, black &

Harvey, Miles. "The Island of Lost Maps. A True Story of a Cartographic
Crime". Random House: 2000. “This is the story of a curious crime spree:
the theft of irreplaceable centuries-old maps from some of the most
prominent research libraries in the United States and Canada. The
perpetrator was a nondescript antiques dealer from Florida with a razor
blade in his pocket and the unlikely name of Gilbert Bland Jr. His
cross-country slash-and-dash operation went virtually undetected until he
was caught in 1995 with 150 maps in his possession and another 100 sold to
black market collectors”. Softcover. 5.25”x7.25”, 405 pages, several
black & white illustrations. In fine, new condition.

 - -

browning, tips thumbed, spine head with small chip, internal margin stain;
light soil, etc.

1999. Softcover. 6”x9”. Fine.

 - -

Pratt, John Barnes. "Personal Recollections. Sixty Years of Book
Publishing". A.S. Barnes: 1942.
John Barnes Pratt went from mail room errand boy to President of A.S.
Barnes. These short memoirs chronicle the numerous ups and downs inherent
in book publishing, the periodic restructuring of the company in order to
maintain its solvency, and finally Pratt's purchase of just one line of
books, along with the Barnes name, which saved the imprint from oblivion.
Hardcover. 5.5"x8", 67 pages, several black & white plates. Ex-library
with small stamps on the endpaper and paste-down sheet, a pocket neatly
removed from the rear endpaper, a small white number on the spine, and a
stamp on the title page. Actually much cleaner than that all makes it
sound. Inscribed by the author on the endpaper.

 - -
