LOWELL, Amy. LEGENDS. Boston & New York: Houghton Mifflin, 1921. First
Edition. Red cloth-backed gray boards with a printed label on the front
cover and on the spine. INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the front endpaper by
the poet to writer and critic Waldo Frank and dated June 1921. Laid in
is a sheet of paper, slightly larger than the text pages, on which is
printed four paragraphs about LEGENDS including three quotes from
critics, one of whom is Waldo Frank. This page appears to have been
removed from another book, perhaps another title by Lowell. In any case
it is a clear indication of the importance of the inscription. Near
Fine, lacking the scarce dustwrapper. $350.00
