Tall 4to. (6),170pp. Index. Double column text. Plus 68 hand-colored
plates illustrating 800 species. Orig. boards, uncut, with paper spine
label, lightly soiled, extremities a bit chipped. Housed in a handsome
custom made slipcase; gilt decorated & blind tooled morocco, black
morocco label, over marbled boards. Occasional light foxing. The first
plate only with some light offset browning from the facing errata

This monograph on shells was part of a series of natural history
studies by Reichenbach, published 1829-1845. See BM Natural History,
Vol. VIII p. 1060. Copies were sold colored and uncolored. The colored
version at 3 times the price of the uncolored (noted on the title-page)
is quite uncommon.
