First edition.  #83 of 350 copies signed by the binder  (Linda Lemke of Green River, Vermont).  A miniature book measuring 2-7/8  X  2-1/8 inches.  Original dark gray cloth with printed paper cover label.  42 pages.  Fine.  Full-page and in-text illustrations.  A biography of Lucy Terry Prince (d. 1821), a literate slave in Deerfield, Massachusetts, who is credited as being the first African American woman poet.  The text of her sole surviving poem, "Bars Fight," is printed here.  She is also remembered for her oratory and for successfully arguing a case before the Supreme Court of Vermont.
