Before there was Rick Perry, there was P. T. Barnum:

BARNUM, P. T. STRUGGLES AND TRIUMPHS; OR, SIXTY YEARS' RECOLLECTIONS. 
Buffalo: Courier Company, 1889. One of several editions of one of the 
most famous American autobiographies by one of the world's most 
sensational entrepreneurs. This is a special copy in a full black 
morocco publisher's presentation binding with gilt decorations on the 
spine and Barnum's gilt signature on the front cover; 360 pages. 
Illustrated with 43 engravings. This copy is INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the 
author "To my friend & neighbor/George Mallory, Esq./With kind regards 
to all/his tribe/P. T. Barnum" and dated 5 July 1890. Mallory was one of 
the founders of the Wheeler & Wilson of Bridgeport, manufacturer of 
sewing machines, later purchased by Singer. Mallory's sons built the 
Madison Square Theatre in 1879, known as the coziest and prettiest house 
in New York. The building was demolished in 1908. Fine. (#008507)
