I.             Title page has anold erasure on a blank section, leaving a few small holes. This copy is heavilyannotated throughout in the margins as well as the endsheets at front and backof the volume, in red and black ink, probably in two different old hands. Thisis 12th century John of Salisbury's authoritative text on thepolitical philosophy of his day. It was influential for centuries after it waswritten. Known as "The Statesman's Book," it talks about the behaviorof a Princess, the differences between a Prince and a tyrant, and the educationof a statesman, etc., etc. Adams A305.
