MAUGHAM, W. Somerset. AH KING. SIX STORIES. London: William Heinemann
Ltd, (1933). First Edition. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the
front endpaper to actor Rex Harrison: "For/Rex/from/Willie/W. Somerset
Maugham." Harrison's most famous role was as Professor Henry Higgins in
MY FAIR LADY. In 1990 he was appearing on Broadway in THE CIRCLE by
Maugham, opposite Glynis Johns, when he fell ill. It was discovered that
he had pancreatic cancer but had been unaware of it, and he died
peacefully three weeks later at the age of 82. Slight fraying along the
rear edge of the spine. Very Good, lacking the dustwrapper, with a fine
presentation. (#014562) $2,500.00
