Covers partially browned, but very good. 11 x 7 inches; ix, 365 pages."The Life of Harbaugh" occupies most of this annual Penna. German Society volume. An influential clergyman and author; DAB writes of Harbaugh's poems in the Pa-German dialect, that he was a "genuine folk poet."  "Harbaugh's Harfe" containing 15 of his dialect poems was a best seller for decades among Pa-Germans. The dialect poems are included here, along with translations, illustrations, bibliography &c.  $12.50

WINKLER, Earnest W. & Llerena FRIEND. (Editors).  CHECK LIST OF TEXAS IMPRINTS 1861-1876.  1963.   Red cloth, with black lettering in original color dust wrapper. 9-1/2 x 6-1/4 inches; xii, 734 pages, some pages unopened. A near fine book in an edgeworn dw that has a few small tears. Begun as a WPA project in 1936, this massive project of listing Texas imprints was continued into the 1960's. An  excellent reference.  $10

STERNE, Simon.  ON REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT AND PERSONAL REPRESENTATION.  Phila., 1871.  In original maroon cloth with gilt lettering on spine. 1/8-inch of wear at extremities of spine. Based in part on Thomas Hare's treatise, entitled "The Election of Representatives, Parliamentary and Municipal." This  book helped to introduce the idea of proportionate representation to Americans. (See DAB).  Presentation copy with contemporary  inscription on half-title and owner's signature at top of t.p. Although this appears to be the 1st edition, the author refers to it in his inscription as the "2nd edition with corrections." Author was a prominent reformer and attorney (for, among others, Mark Twain), and active in the defeat of the Tweed Ring, &c.   (Another one that seems to have gotten scarce.)  $20.00
