Octavo (6-3/4" x 9-1/2") bound by Gray Parrot in full gilt-decorated
vellum and laid in a custom gilt-lettered vellum-backed clamshell box.
The text was first published as Chapter XXIII in Browne's PSEUDODOXIA
EPDEMICA in 1646. Illustrated with an etching and wood engravings by
Alan James Robinson. Introduction by Jan Van Dorsten. This is Artist
Proof I of only 15 vellum bound copies of a total edition of 225 printed
in black and blue by Harold Patrick McGrath and SIGNED by Robinson. This
edition has an extra portfolio containing work proofs of the engravings
and a state proof of the etching, each SIGNED and numbered by Robinson,
as well as an ORIGINAL DRAWING SIGNED by Robinson. Prospectus laid in.
