TITLE: “A Compendium of Painting”

By Jacques Blockx.
Published in London by Percy Young in 1910.

DISCUSSION: “Translated from the Third Edition of the French Edition by
Percy Young”. An important study of artists’ colors by a leading French
chemist and authority on artists’ pigments, their preparation and use.
Jacques Blockx [1844-1913] was the founder of the French paint company
that bears his name to this day. Salvator Dali, wrote of him, "This man
who never painted, will contribute more to the painters of tomorrow than
what we will have accomplished, all the modern painters together". A small
volume, but a mighty one.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 3.75”x7”, 148 pages.

CONDITION NOTES: Cover wear, cover joint frayed and cracked (please see
the photos), bottom portion of the front endpapers ink spattered, rear
endpaper with a name black out in ink.
