types of birds, trapping falcons, training them, their quarry, and life in
the field. Mark Allen became a falconer at age 12, and at age 19 was in
the Arabian desert, seeking out Arab falconers. An expert in Middle
Eastern affairs, he worked with the British Foreign Office when not
hawking.
