4to sheet with N . Y. Sun letterhead, to a Miss Clements. "Every year during the month of December I was shocked by the nation-wide demand for reprints of the Virginia O'Hanlon story. Virginia and "Is there a Santa Claus?" have become an integral part of the Christmas season. I am acquainted with Virginia O'Hanlon through my newspaper work and feel I can convince her to appear on your show." (Virginia's letter to the Sun was answered by editor Francis Pharcellus, who little knew that he had written that day in 1897 the most celebrated editorial of all time. Virginia did not rest on her laurels, but gained a Doctorate from Fordham and was a teacher and principal for many years. Whether anything came of Kubrin's scheme, further deponent saith not.) $100.00
