ROSTAND, Edmond.  CYRANO DE BERGERAC: COMÉDIE HÉROIQUE EN CINQ ACTES EN VERS.  Paris: Librairie Charpentier et Fasquelle, 1898. Near contemporary full green morocco (faded to brown on spine and extremities of boards), with raised bands, gilt spine lettering, covers decorated with multiple gilt rules, and double gilt rules on dentelles. The binding is signed "19-M·C-06" on the rear dentelle. All edges gilt. Approx. 7 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches; [9], 225 pages. Shallow chip to base of spine, top of front hinge has just started, a few tiny scuffs to front cover, still a very good copy.  ($70)  $30

Original publisher's brown pictorial cloth stamped in gilt and blind. Approx. 7 1/8 x 5 1/2 inches; 208 pages. Illustrated with a frontispiece signed by Gilbert & Gihon and 7 additional plates. Two small stains to spine, light to moderate foxing, still about very good.  ($60)  $30

STOWE, Lyman Beecher.  SAINTS, SINNERS AND BEECHERS.  Indianapolis, 1934. Original blue cloth, stamped in gold with title and an emblem.  Near fine.  Signed inscription from author: "To Barbara / whose almost life long / friendship has meant so much / to / Lyman Beecher Stowe / 1 Beekman Place / New York / April 16 '34."   ($55) $20



RECORDING BRITAIN [4 VOLUMES].  Oxford, 1946 - 49.  First edition.  Small quartos, original silver-stamped cloth.  An excellent set in chipped dust wrappers.  Profusely illustrated (some plates in color).  Consists of "the works of 95 artists who were asked . . . to make a pictorial record of the changing face of Britain."  The text was the work of Arnold Palmer.  A handsome, nostalgic work.  ($85)  $30



GILLISPIE, Charles Coulston [Editor in Chief]. DICTIONARY OF SCIENTIFIC BIOGRAPHY, VOL. I, VOL. II, and VOL. IV.  N. Y., 1970.   A set of three volumes from the series, Vol. I: Pierre Abailard - L. S. Berg, Vol. II: Hans Berger - Christoph Buys Ballot, and Vol. IV: Richard Dedekin - Firmicus Maternus.  Each volume a thick 4to, 11 x 9 inches in black and gold stamped green cloth.  The second volume has the original dust wrapper, but is an exlibrary copy with the expected markings and marks to the edges as well.  Overall a very good or better set of a few volumes from this useful reference source. ($125)  $45
