[London], 7 April 1929. Fine, brief one-page AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED on 
13 Mallord Street, Chelsea, S.W.3 letterhead to the noted actress Mary 
Jerrold. In full: "Your Joan looks as sweet and plays so charmingly as 
my Jessica that I must just congratulate you. The charming daughter and 
still more charming mother--as somebody once said in Latin. Yours 
sincerely, A. A. Milne." With envelope hand-addressed by Milne. Normal

calf with double gilt-ruled borders on both covers with a central 
gilt-embossed depiction of Christopher Robin carrying a fishing rod on 
the front cover, a gilt-decorated spine with gilt floral devices, gilt 
dentelles, marbled endpapers, and green and burgundy gilt-lettered 
morocco spine labels; all edges gilt; xi, 212 pages. With twelve plates 
in color and text decorations by Ernest H. Shepard. Small nick at top of 
front joint and an area of mild sunning to top of front board. Close to

being copy #233 of 250 copies SIGNED by the author and the illustrator. 
Quarto (7" x 9") in original green cloth-backed illustrated yellow paper 
boards with a printed paper spine label. Illustrated by Ernest Shepard. 
This copy has definite signs of use, including a child practicing 
writing her name on the front pastedown and endpaper, a few roughly 
opened pages, several pages with some light pencil coloring, and one 
page with a few dark stains. Still, it is complete, generally clean, and 
an excellent value. Good, solid copy, lacking the dustwrapper and box.

plain brown slipcase with printed paper spine label, here lacking about 
a one-inch section from the top edge. Illustrated by Ernest Shepard. 
This is copy #685 of 842 SIGNED by the author. Laid in are an old 
receipt and description from Goodspeed's. Fine in what would be a Fine

MILNE, A. A. WINNIE-THE-POOH. London: Methuen & Co. Ltd., (1926). First 
Edition. The true first printing of this children's classic with 
illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard, this appearing to be one of a small 
number of the more luxurious deluxe edition produced in soft leather and 
printed on coated stock. This copy has been rebound in full blue morocco 
with the same gilt depiction on the front cover of Christopher Robin and 
Pooh that appeared on the original deluxe edition and with gilt 
depictions of Pooh on the spine, with all edges gilt. Clean copy with a 
sticker "Jane Austen Prize" pasted to the recto of the first blank. Fine
