TITLE: “Dennis Miller Bunker. American Impressionist”

By Erica E. Hirshler.
Published by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in 1994.

DISCUSSION: Immensely talented, but caught in the fold of history between
the Academic and Impressionist periods, Boston-based painter Dennis Miller
Bunker [1861–1890] achieved fame in his own short lifetime and was
forgotten shortly thereafter. A friend of many prominent artists and
artistic figures of his era, including John Singer Sargent, William Dean
Howells and Isabella Stewart Gardner, he worked in both the Academic and
the newly-wrought Impressionist styles with equal virtuosity. Bunker died,
shortly after his marriage, of meningitis at the age of 29. This
exhibition helped to bring his star back into the artistic sky where it
belonged.

DESCRIPTION: Softcover. 11”x10”, 190 pages, color and black & white
illustrations.

CONDITION NOTES: The covers have some light wear (please see the photos,
above and below). The book itself has some minor wear, but otherwise is
clean and nice, with a tight binding.

PRICE: $85
