TITLE: “An Autobiography. Frank Lloyd Wright”

By Frank Lloyd Wright.
Published in London, New York & Toronto by Longmans, Green and Company in
1932. First edition (stated).

DISCUSSION: Frank Lloyd Wright [1867-1959], American architect, interior
designer, author, and collector of rare Japanese prints, remains as one of
the most famous and influential architects of the 20th century, and in
1991 was declared by the American Institute of Architects to be "the
greatest American architect of all time", a description Wright himself
would have heartily endorsed. Wright’s memoir was a also a form of
advertising, and a successful one at that.

“The book is divided into five sections devoted to family, fellowship,
work, freedom, and form. Wright recalls his childhood, his apprenticeship
with Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan, the turmoil of his personal life,
and the background to his greatest achievements, including Hollyhock
House, the Prairie and the Usonian Houses, and the Imperial Hotel in
Tokyo”.
