TITLE: “The Architect and the Industrial Arts. An Exhibition of
Contemporary American Design”

Published in New York by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1929.

DISCUSSION: The catalog to one of the Met’s most interesting exhibitions
of industrial art- they engaged leading architects and gave them control
over the project, which resulted in a series of Moderne tableaux, each
designed down to the smallest detail by a single designer. The catalog
includes several short essays on the project, as well as descriptions and
a photograph of each of the thirteen settings- Backyard Garden by Ely
Jacques Kahn – Man’s Study for a Country House by Ralph T. Walker –
Conservatory by Joseph Urban – Show Window and Sales Alcove by Eugene
Schoen – Woman’s Bedroom by John Wellborn Root – Man’s Den by Joseph Urban
– Child’s Nursery and Bedroom by Eugene Schoen – Dining Room by Eliel
Saarinen – Bath and Dressing Room by Jacques Kahn – Apartment House Loggia
by Raymond M. Hood – Business Executive’s Offices by Raymond M. Hood –
Sales Room by Ralph T. Walker – Central Garden Feature by Armistead
Fitzhugh.

An uncommon and interesting catalog.
