TITLE: “[Republications of] Essays Upon Art, &c. and notices of the
collection of the Works of the Old Masters, at the Lyceum Gallery”

Published in New York by the Lyceum Gallery, printed by George F. Nesbitt,
in 1849.

DISCUSSION: An interesting little publication of art topics, including
"Some thoughts on Art" by Mrs. Jameson, "The Poetry of Scared and
Legendary Art" and "Was Rubens a Colorist?", both from Blackwood's
Magazine, "Description of two Pictures by Rubens", etc. The last 4+ pages
contain admiring press notices of the show of Old Masters at the Lyceum
Gallery, which one assumes was the real purpose of publishing the booklet.

A glimpse into the Mid-Victorian popular artsy world.

DESCRIPTION: Softcover. 5.5"x9", 40 pages.

CONDITION NOTES: Minor wear, a little light soil, but otherwise clean and
nice, with a tight binding. Partially unopened.

PRICE: $65.00
