Slocum (Captain Joshua) SAILING ALONE AROUND THE WORLD
Illustrated by Thomas Fogarty and George Varian.

First edition: xvi + 294 pages, frontispiece, numerous charts and  
illustrations, original blue decorated cloth with silver titling on  
the upper cover and spine and with a green double seahorse and silver  
anchor motif on the upper cover, top edge gilt, other edges uncut, the  
top of the spine is bumped, overall a bright copy.

Slocum completed his voyage around the world between 24th April 1895  
and 27th June 1898 a journey of 46,000 miles becoming the first man to  
sail around the world single-handed in a small boat.

Sailing Alone Around the World was first serialised in The Century  
Magazine and then in book form by The Century Co.in 1900.
