First two with an exotic provenance: early ownership signature and armorial bookplate of Gore Ouseley, and ink stamp of the British Legation, Tehran (Persia). Sir Gore Ouseley (1770-1844) was a linguist, orientalist and diplomat. After almost twenty years in India, first as a trader then as adviser to the Nawab of Oudh, Ouseley served as British ambassador to Persia (the first since Charles I's reign) from 1810-1814, during which time he helped negotiate the Treaty of Gulistan between Persia and Russia.
