OCLC locates 3 copies only of this edition - NONE IN THE U.S. Paez was educated by the Jesuits at Stonyhurst, where he probably met Charles Waterton, (see below.)   $65.00

Naples, 1850.     Original printed wrappers, moderate wear, folding plate (one fold repaired). This edition has corrections and a number of notes by the editor.  (Walker was the first person to send a submarine telegraph signal; he also connected the British railroads to the Greenwich Observatory. Walker was President of the British Meteorological Society and the Society of Telegraph Engineers & Electricians.) ONLY ONE COPY IN OCLC (Burndy Library). As the title suggests, this work had applications to Daguerreotypes and art work.  $90.00

[MICHIGAN CARRIER'S ADDRESS].  CARRIER BOY'S NEW YEARS' ADDRESS TO THE PATRONS OF THE BRANCH COUNTY GAZETTE.  Coldwater, Michigan, Jan. 1, 1862.  Broadside, approx. 18 X 13 inches, a few small marginal tears, one tiny separation at fold, old folds, ornamental typographic border, large open and solid type in title, four columns of rhyming verse, largely on the Civil War.  "From Mrs. Whillen" ?? written at top corner.  A unique survivor ??  Not in OCLC, which records very few Midwestern carrier addresses. The Union List of Newspapers finds only 1 issue of this fugitive newspaper - Dec., 25, 1867 , at the AAS. $450.00

"With original instructions for the perfect preservation of birds, &c for cabinets of natural history."  Attractive full polished gilt calf prize binding.  Award certificate awarded by Stonyhurst School to Edward Blount in 1886 on paste-down end paper. Xvi, 520 pages. All edges gilt, marbled end papers. A nice copy.  (Stonyhurst is an ancient Jesuit school in Lancashire. The choice of this popular book, which was an inspiration for Darwin and Wallace among others,  was uniquely appropriate, as Waterton was educated at Stonyhurst.  He is remembered as a pioneer naturalist and environmentalist.  See PAEZ above.) $75.00
