28pp; cover and six other illus from photographs; signed in pencil on the
cover by Barney Ewell, 11" x 8.5". (2) Press photo, 8" x 6", long caption
on back "Via Radio from London...Dillard nosing out the highly favored
Barney Ewell in semi-finals of the 100 meter dash in Wembley Stadium here
today...." (3) Press photo, 7.25" x 10.5", cropped, news clip with caption
on back "Barney Ewell of Camp Kilmer, NJ flashes across the finish line in
front of a brilliant field in the 40-yard dash...ninth annual Chicago
relays...." (4) Press photo, 9" x 7", caption tipped on "Winged Legs. State
College, PA--Barney Ewell, Penn State's Great Negro Track Star, has
collected enough trophies to fill a case...." Barney is shown with his
tropies. Very Good. Pictorial Paper Covers.
The booklet includes the Program of Athletic Events for Barney Ewell
Booster Night, proceeds to be "used to establish a Fund to make a part
payment on a new home for Barney and his family...now that he is about to
hang up his spiked shoes." A full page is devoted to Barney's athletic
achievements from junior high through the National AAU Championships. He
tied three world's records: 50 yards (indoor), 60 yards (indoor), and 100
meters (outdoor).  He won 12 gold medals and championships in three
straight years in the IC4A collegiate meets starting in 1940, and he won 11
gold medals in Amateur Athletic Union national meets. He also set American
and world records at 50 yards, 60 yards and 100 meters. winning the Silver
Medal in the 40-yard dash at the 1948 Olympic Games in London.
