We have recently posted on our home page and elsewhere 175 new Limited
Editions Club acquisitions including Original Art for some of the books;
publisher's, office, and proof copies of the books; and books still in
their original shipping containers, as well as some high points of the
press. Here is an example.
BIBLE. THE FOUR GOSPELS: THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST. MATTHEW, ST. MARK,
ST. LUKE AND ST. JOHN. Leipzig: Limited Editions Club, 1932. Octavo
(7-5/8" x 9-1/2") bound by Fritzsche-Hager of Leipzig in half vellum,
gold-stamped, with terra-cotta paper sides; 240 pages. Printed by
Poeschel and Trepte, Leipzig, on handmade paper. Introduction by E.
Sutherland. Designed and decorated with woodcuts by Emil Rudolf Weiss.
Of a total edition of 1500 copies SIGNED by the designer on the colophon
page, this is one of only 15 Presentation Copies with the publisher's
blindstamp attesting to such on the colophon page where the printed
number "1594" is struck through and the initials "G.M." are handwritten.
Acquired directly from the publisher's files, and most likely the
publisher George Macy's very own copy. Just mild toning to the spine.
Fine in a Fine slipcase. (#016613) $200.00
