A few historiated woodcut capitals (tending toward the erotic). Cont. binding composed of a French medieval manuscript leaf (a bit soiled), written in double columns in a good 13th century hand, with extensive gloss. Occasional light foxing and browning. Knight of Malta Girolamo Pensa's collection of 1,103 Tuscan epigrams. Leonardo Torrentino, the printer, was the son of Lorenzo, typographer to Cosimo de Medici, and arguably the best Italian printer of his day. The vellum binding leaf is from a canon law text, Decretals of Gregory IX Lib. I Tit. XXXIII. BM Italian STC p. 497. Not in Adams.
