Ferber, Edna. Giant [Signed].* Garden City, New York: Doubleday and
Company, Inc., 1952. First edition. A Very Good + to Near Fine copy (spine
ends show some pushing, tiny scrape to front pastedown, tiny fold line at
bottom outside corner of 5 pages -- otherwise Fine), in a Very Good dust
jacket (expected wear at the spine ends and board corners, modest soiling
to white rear panel, light wear and toning to flap extremities), DATED,
PLACED, and SIGNED BY EDNA FERBER on the half-title as follows: "Edna
Ferber. / New York, September 7 / 1953". One of the most popular authors of
her day, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Ferber wrote numerous novels that then
were turned into movies and stage productions, and was a member of the
famed Algonquin Round Table. "Giant", offered here, provided the basis for
the 1956 film starring Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, and James Dean ---
Dean's final film  as a leading actor, and a film in which his performance
earned him his second posthumous Academy Award nomination.] Signed copies
of the book are surprisingly scarce. This copy belonged to actor Jack
Palance and was purchased at the 2006 auction of his personal property. The
Jack Palance bookplate from the Sale is loosely laid in. A Very Good +
copy, DATED, PLACED, and SIGNED BY EDNA FERBER. SCARCE. Very Good + in very
