From the library at Encombe House, Dorset, the seat of John Scott (1751-1838), 1st Earl of Eldon and Lord Chancellor of Great Britain, with his signature ("Eldon") and armorial bookplates; front endpapers with the signatures of his wife, Eliza[beth] Scott. Bindings are worn and scuffed with some loss to the leather in several places, spines dried and chipped at the ends, joints cracked but secure; early ink initials to title of vol. I, mild dust-soiling to the edges of the text block, light toning to the leaves, a couple of leaves creased, a few small spots of soiling; otherwise clean and sound.

A relatively early printing of the collected works of Mrs. Rowe (1674–1737), poet, novelist, and (to some) proto-feminist. The Poems and Translations of her husband, Thomas Rowe, have a separate title page dated 1755, though the pagination is continuous.
