Sm. 4to. (12),340,(40)pp. Front free endpaper lacking. In this copy the alphabetical table of contents is misbound and follows page 338. The final section of text, "Of the Colours of Good and Evill, a Fragment" has its own title page. Each essay begins with a large woodcut capital. Cont. suede, rubbed, spine chipped, hinges cracked but cords holding soundly. Title page a bit browned and closely trimmed at bottom margin. A few leaves with marginal notes and neat underlining (someone purports to have found the hidden code proving that Bacon wrote the works of Shakespeare).	$1,250.00 (trade discount allowed)
