Milton: PARADISE LOST, A POEM IN TWELVE BOOKS. PARADISE REGAINED, A  
POEM IN FOUR BOOKS. (Cresset Press)

Two volumes: xxii, 442, (i colophon), 22 wood engravings,  and  (vi),  
88, (i colophon), 370 x 265 mm, 4 wood engravings. Bound in full  
vellum with gilt titling on the spines, yapp edges, page edges uncut,  
contained in a paper-covered slip case which has been repaired at the  
top but is splitting at the bottom.  A very good set.

The plates and illustrations were designed and engraved on wood by D.  
Galanis. The title-page & initial letters were designed by Anna  
Simons. One hundred and ninety-five copies have been printed by  
Bernard H. Newdigate at the Shakespeare Head Press Saint Aldates  
Oxford on Batchelor’s hand-made paper. These are numbered 1 to 195.  
Ten copies have been printed on Roman Vellum and are numbered I to X.
