We have recently posted on our home page and elsewhere 175 new Limited
Editions Club acquisitions including Original Art for some of the books;
publisher's, office, and proof copies of the books; and books still in
their original shipping containers, as well as some high points of the
press. Here is an example.
WHITMAN, Walt (Aaron SISKIND). SONG OF THE OPEN ROAD. [New York]:
Limited Editions Club, (1990). Very large, almost square quarto (15" x
17-1/2"), bound in quarter black goatskin over green linen boards with
goatskin fore-edge to the boards and a green leather spine label.
Illustrated with 6 large photogravures by Aaron Siskind printed by Clary
Nelson at the Renaissance Press on Richard De Bas paper. The photographs
were taken not far from Siskin's home in Providence, RI "of tar poured
into the cracks of light-colored concrete roads, forming swirls and
curves and parallel lines, cheerful or brooding markings on a gritty
surface that is rendered almost microscopically and enlarged into a
striking textural background for each of the six photographs." Copy #457
of only 550 numbered copies SIGNED by the photographer on the colophon
page. Monthly Letter laid in. Fine in a Fine slipcase. (#016611) $1,000.00
