Lotter, 1769. Second Edition. First Issue of the Second Edition, first
published in 1756. Small quarto (6-1/4" x 7-7/8") bound in contemporary
calf with contrasting leather spine labels and lovely decorated period
German endpapers. [xvi], 268, [viii] pages. Illustrated with 3 (of 4)
full-page plates, text engravings, and a large folding table of music.
Lacks the portrait frontispiece. OCLC locates only the copy at the
Houghton Library at Harvard. A treatise on the fundamental principles of
violin playing by the father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. About a dozen
pages with marginal tears, mostly at the bottom, with some repaired with
varying degrees of skill. Loss only to a few letters on one preliminary
page. Binding is solid with the spine tips chipped, corners a little
worn, and the spine labels rubbed but still readable. Overall a Very
Good example of a scarce book. (#011318) $2,000.00
