(INCUNABULA) [The Council of Basel] DECRETA CONCILII BASILIENSIS [Edited & with a Preface by Sebastian Brandt]... (Basel: Jacobus Wolff, De Pforzheim. After 1 March, 1499). 4to. ff.112 (A-O8). Gothic type, woodcut initials of different sizes, including a large decorative "S". Old vellum, somewhat soiled. Title-page neatly laid down. "M. Michaelis von Oppenburg Amstelodamensis" and "Adolph Fried. Meyer" inscriptions on title. "Presented to the Incorporated Law Society by John Richard" with an 11-line note on inside front cover. First edition of the proceedings of the Council of Basel, convoked in 1431 by Pope Martin V, it terminates in 1449 under Pope Nicolaus V. The text of the Bull of Pope Nicolaus V, in which he authorized the decisions of the Council in order to unite the two factions of the Church, appears in the final chapter.
